2016 has been a busy Movie year, it’s just August and both DC and Marvel Studios have already released two box-office dominating movies each. The year has also seen some of the best horror flicks since “The Shining”, most notably The Conjuring 2 and The Purge: Election Year–really amazing stuff. Worthy of note as well are the many reboots and sequels this year has had–The legend of Tarzan, Ghostbusters, Barbershop, Independence Day…

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Following John Boyega’s exploit on the last installment of the Star Wars series, The Force Awakens, the malevolent Galactic Empire are now bent to annihilate the Rebel Fighters. In their bid to do this, they draw plans to build the ultimate killing device–The Death Star.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story details the chronicles of a wayward Band of Rebel Fighters on a quest to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule. Casted in this classic are the incredible Mads Mikkelsen and Forest Whitaker.

Doctor Strange
Benedict Cumberbatch leads the line on this one. My bias for this British screen god is gist for another day; in my eyes he does no wrong. So for me this flick is much awaited. Marvel is on a roll—one year, three movies. Amazing!
This movie centres around the story of an overly gifted neurosurgeon, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), handicapped by a ghastly motor accident. He sets out on a journey of healing and meaning, where he encounters the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), who later becomes Strange’s mentor in the mystic arts. Anglo-Nigerian Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton and the amazing Mads Mikkelsen are on this one

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Assassin’s Creed
Michael Fassbender stars in this video-game adaptation as Callum Lynch, an Assassin sheltered by Abstergo Industries. He finds himself in the middle of an age old war for control. Circumstances have forged him for days like these. This is a combat movie for the less critical movie lover. It comes out barely four days before Christmas

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
That’s a catchy title I tell you; the world-acclaimed David Yates and the award winning writer, J.K Rowling, are about to have us mind-blown. Another vintage tale of witches, wizards, goblets, spells and unnamed beasts.
Eddy Redmayne leads a talented cast of Ron Perlman, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrel and co. The question on our minds is whether this movie will reach the status of another J.K Rowling classic, Harry Potter

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
Serving as sequel to the 2012 action thriller, Jack Reacher, Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher) returns to the Headquarters of his old military unit, but now he’s accused of a 16-year-old homicide, and finds out that it is only a part of something bigger.
Like a proper Tom Cruise flick, I can tell that this one will be filled with conspiracy, properly drawn out counter plots and deft combat moves.

The Magnificent Seven
From the Director that masterminded the spectacular “Southpaw”, comes The Magnificent Seven, a reboot of the 1960 film of the same name. Antoine Fuqua (Director) gathers a star-studded team of Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Peter Sarsgaard and Haley Bennett.
It’s a Denzel Movie, so it’s a classic, undoubtedly!
